Jimmie “Jim” B. Hicks, Jr.
Jim Hicks has almost 30 years of experience in business and corporate law, commercial and financial transactions, condemnation cases, commercial real estate, and local governmental law. Prior to joining Stubbs Perdue, Mr. Hicks spent a number of years in London, UK, where he obtained his M.B.A. with Merit from Imperial College Business School, London; and further studied at the University of Oxford, Said Business School and the London School of Economics and Political Science. His MBA degree and further studies focused on Advanced Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisition, Venture Capital, Digital Business, International Business, International Relations, and the Global Political Economy. His vast business experience, combined with his recent studies at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, helps Jim Hicks solve problems for his clients in a practical and solutions focused approach.
During his legal career, Mr. Hicks has been counsel for eleven local governmental units, and has handled a wide range of other legal matters, including financial transactions, contracts, condemnation, intellectual property, and economic development. He has also represented public and private clients in numerous financing transactions totaling over $700,000,000, and economic development projects exceeding $200,000,000.
Mr. Hicks joined Stubbs Perdue in 2021 as Of Counsel after practicing for 27 years with Sumrell, Sugg, Carmichael, Hicks & Hart, PA. He focuses his practice on business law, intellectual property, local government, condemnation/eminent domain, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, economic development, commercial and financial transactions, commercial real estate, and historic tax credits.
