Stubbs & Perdue, P.A, is named Business North Carolina’s Legal Elete

Stubbs & Perdue, P.A, is pleased to announce two of its attorneys have been named in Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite.” More than 19,000 ballots were sent to North Carolina attorneys. The ballots asked only one question: “Of the North Carolina lawyers whose work you observed first hand, who you would rate among the current best?” Only a little more than 3 percent of the thousands of attorneys practicing in the state are selected as “Legal Elite.”

Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. attorneys acknowledged by peer recognition and professional achievement to become “Legal Elite” are Trawick H. “Buzzy” Stubbs, Jr. for Bankruptcy and Laurie B. Biggs for Young Guns (best attorneys under the age of 40).

Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. has adopted a bear, Bear-ly Legal Bear

New Bern is celebrating its 300-year anniversary and all these whimsical Bears will be on display throughout that entire year.

Bear Town Bears brought together local artists and corporate/civic sponsors and placed life-size, hand-painted, fiberglass Bears throughout New Bern, North Carolina. The Bear, being the symbol of the historic town of New Bern, was selected for this public-art project.

Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. welcomes Kindelle A. Morton

Kindelle A. Morton is a native of New Bern. She was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in August 2008. Ms. Morton graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in 2008 where she was a Charleston School of Law Merit Scholar and a member of the Moot Court Board and Honor Council. Prior to joining Stubbs and Perdue in February, 2010, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in Pitt County, North Carolina. Ms. Morton currently practices law at the New Bern office in the areas of criminal, traffic, and bankruptcy.

William H. Kroll was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in March 2009. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors, magna cum laude (1993); State University of New York at Cortland, Cortland, NY with a Master of Science in Recreation (May 2001). He obtained his J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill, NC with Honors in December 2008. Prior to joining Stubbs & Perdue, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Judge A. Thomas Small of the United States Bankruptcy Court (E.D.N.C), Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Kroll will practice law at the Raleigh office in the area of bankruptcy.

Ashley Hume Baxter is a native of New Bern. She was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2009. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science. She obtained her J.D. from Campbell University’s Norman A. Wiggins School of Law in May 2009. Joining Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. in September 2009, Ashley currently practices law at the New Bern office in the area of bankruptcy.

Laurie B. Biggs has successfully completed the requirements for National Certification in Business Bankruptcy Law from the American Board of Certification.

Ms. Biggs had to practice full time for five years, devote at least 30% of her time to bankruptcy in the last three years, complete at least 60 hours of bankruptcy education over the last three years and pass an extensive day-long written exam covering business bankruptcy issues to obtain this certification.

The ABC consists of many of the nation’s finest bankruptcy and creditors’ rights lawyers, former judges, and law professors.

Ms. Biggs is now recognized as a specialist in business bankruptcy law, by the North Carolina State Bar and the American Board of Certification.

Trawick H. Stubbs, Jr., Amy M. Currin and Laurie B. Biggs attended and spoke at the Eastern Bankruptcy Institute’s 2007 Bankruptcy Seminar at North Myrtle Beach, SC on June 1-2, 2007. Mr. Stubbs and Mrs. Biggs spoke on professional issues, and Ms. Currin spoke on recent developments in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy law.
