Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. welcomes William H. Kroll October 19, 2009: William H. Kroll was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in March 2009. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors, magna cum laude (1993); State University of New York at Cortland, Cortland, NY with a Master of Science in Recreation (May 2001). He obtained his J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill, NC with Honors in December 2008. Prior to joining Stubbs & Perdue, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Judge A. Thomas Small of the United States Bankruptcy Court (E.D.N.C), Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Kroll will practice law at the Raleigh office in the area of bankruptcy.Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. welcomes two new attorneys in September 2009: Rebecca A. Scherrer was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in October, 2006, and the Massachusetts Bar in January, 2006. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Psychology. She obtained her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2005. Prior to joining Stubbs & Perdue, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard A. Elmore, the Honorable J. Douglas McCullough, and the Honorable Robert N. Hunter, Jr. of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Ms. Scherrer currently practices law at the Raleigh office in the area of bankruptcy. Laurie B. Biggs has successfully completed the requirements for National Certification in Business Bankruptcy Law from the American Board of Certification. Ms. Biggs had to practice full time for five years, devote at least 30% of her time to bankruptcy in the last three years, complete at least 60 hours of bankruptcy education over the last three years and pass an extensive day-long written exam covering business bankruptcy issues to obtain this certification. The ABC consists of many of the nation's finest bankruptcy and creditors' rights lawyers, former judges, and law professors. Ms. Biggs is now recognized as a specialist in business bankruptcy law, by the North Carolina State Bar and the American Board of Certification.
J. Douglas McCullough has returned to the law firm of Stubbs & Perdue, P.A. effective January 5, 2009 after serving for 8 years as a Judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Prior to his election McCullough practiced with the firm for 4 years after retiring from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. McCullough will work primarily from the New Bern office and will focus his practice on Civil Litigation, Federal Criminal and Federal Civil as well as Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Litigation. He has also been named to the list of Federal Mediators. He is a member of the N.C. State Bar, D.C. Bar, U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of NC, Fourth Circuit Bar as well as the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. McCullough is a graduate of Swansboro High School, University of NC at Chapel Hill and University of South Carolina Law School where he was the managing editor of the Law Review. McCullough is also a published author, having written Sea Of Greed, a true story about a drug smuggling case he prosecuted which led to the indictment of Manuel Noriega of Panama.
